Day of Compassion 2017

DOC Collage

Thanks to the support of the Rockford are community, the One Body Collaboratives first annual Day of Compassion was a great success!  It was a true collaboration of churches and ministries coming together with individuals in the community with the desire to serve our neighbors in need.

The event allowed us to create awareness for the work of One Body Collaboratives and our Gap Ministries; and launch of our Compassionate Impacts project, a project of Transform Rockford managed by One Body Collaboratives that will promote “Service to all, and service by all”; as well as provide attendees the opportunity to personally experience the “Meet the Need” software platform that will help our community post and meet family needs collaboratively.

Highlights Include:

·        Over 200 event attendees representing many facets of the community, including:

o   Representatives and Leadership from over 30 One Body Collaboratives Partner Churches

o   Participation from Transform Rockford, Elected Officials and representation from many area Community Service Organizations

o   Support from the Business Community including: Bergstrom, OSF HealthCare, and SwedishAmerican Foundation

·        More than 1,800 pounds of items were collected and distributed to our Gap Ministries, stocking their closets with much needed items

·        Funds raised to support individuals attending our 8-week life skills planning IMAGE class

·        Generated interest from many churches, and community organizations in being a part of our Compassionate Impacts project

·        Awareness created by coverage from all 3 local TV Stations, as well as an Editorial in the Rockford Register Star
